Established in 1973, the Mt. Trashmore Park is the most popular park in Virginia Beach with the attendance of over one million visitors a year. The park is simply a great example of landfill reuse since it has been made of the conversion of an abandoned landfill. It covers the land area of 165 acres that houses four large and 11 small picnic shelters, a basketball court, playground areas, four volleyball areas, parking, vending machines, restrooms as well as two lakes where fishing is permitted and multiple walking trails with different measures.
The other major attractions of the park include - Mount Trashmore Skate Park – It is located in the northeast corner of the park, where many professional skateboarders have made appearances and Kids' Cove - It is an innovative playground designed for children using children's ideas and input.
With such amazing attractions, Mt. Trashmore Park stands as one of the best tourist spots offering something for the people of all ages.
